Consumer Product Safety Commission Announces Furnace Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of 12 furnace models manufactured by Unitary Products Group of York International Group of York, Penn. The furnaces were sold as "Coleman," "Coleman Evcon" and "Red T" brands. The furnaces were sold nationwide between 1995 and 2000 as original equipment in manufactured homes and as replcement equipment in manufactured homes. According to the CPSC, the furnaces can overheat, causing heat-exchanger cracking, burn-through and, in extreme cases, furnace wrapper burn-through. This can lead to heating and possible burning of the drywall and other combustibles adjacent to the furnace, which poses fire and smoke hazard to consumers.
The recall involves Coleman, Coleman Evcon and Red T furnaces with the model numbers listed below. Brand names are located on the middle of the front access panel.
